It’s pretty amazing how far green screen technology has come. Though this just makes it all the more inexcusable when you see it done badly.
Tonight Party Tonight, one of the tracks from our new album, Containment Failure. There are ten more tracks like it right here.
We’re trying to get the word out, so if you like them, please share the link!
My band finally finished their album! We won’t have an opportunity to play this live so we’re relying on word of mouth to get this out there at the moment. Please share it around if you like it!
I’m fascinated by Artificial Intelligence, especially when applied to tiny pixelated people. There’s something about the combination of 2D pixel animation and procedural behaviour that just tickles something in my brain. Years ago I started playing around with flocking behaviours, which provide simple rules for large numbers of entities, resulting in more complex behaviour. I never got very far in implementing anything, but a few ideas came out of it which I would still like to go back to someday.
One of these was a game/toy which would put AI driven survivors in a top-down 2D world full of zombie swarms, and give them the task of getting to safety. I know, I know, zombies are totally played out in video games, but I came up with this idea years ago so it still counts.
So here are a few of the gameplay elements I envisioned:

Very excited to be photographed by Darin Collison for my sister Jess’ wedding on Saturday! I really love his photojournalistic style and he seems to have a knack for capturing great moments. I’m sure we’re going to get some beautiful photos!
Oh wow, this guy is really good! I can’t wait to see how all the photos turn out.
I played a game called Choice Of The Dragon today, which is a choose your own adventure style game with multiple paths and ‘personality’ variables which alter the course of gameplay. It was a nice little diversion and was quite well designed and well written (so if you’re bored, check it out)
It got me thinking that it would be cool if there was a website where you could create and collaborate on such games yourself, and have others play them, comment on them and rate them. Kind of like a Ficly for multi-choice adventure games.
So, how would it work?
